Sometimes we forget that there are folks out there who have never experienced the Oyster Run and are not sure how it all works.
Due to the sheer number of motorcyclists that attend the Oyster Run, we were forced to abandon any kind of scheduled route many years ago!
How it works: Schedule your own route, pick a few "Biker Friendly" places along the way there, back or year round. For a full list go to Biker Friendly, Sponsors and Supporters.
End up in Beautiful Downtown Anacortes!
Get there early as the place gets incredibly packed!
Depending on the weather, estimates have been anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 motorcycles in past years.
Although there are no organized events until Sunday, a lot of folks come to stay in the area early and make a week end out of it. So make your plans early! Go to our Biker Friendly, Sponsors and Supporters pages for lodging, food and shopping ideas.
Also don't forget to show your support to those who support the Oyster Run year round, without whom the Oyster Run would not be possible!

"HISTORY OF THE OYSTER RUN"
It all started with a few guys getting together at the end of summer to go for a ride and eat some oysters.
The year was 1981.
Limp Lee had just returned from months of working in Alaska. He talked with a few guys and they all met at was then The California Tavern in Marysville.
They decided to ride up hwy 9 and stop at a few places along the way, and ended up in Edison to have oyster cocktails.
The next year a few more people joined in, the next even more and by the fourth year there were close to 200 motorcycles!
As the years went by there were just too many to have an organized run up hwy 9. At about the same time the owners of Anacortes Pawn (Douglas and his then wife Joyce Ramey) had an idea to bring more business to the downtown merchants. Doug spoke with Lee about bringing the Oyster Run to Anacortes. It was a match made in motorcycle heaven! At first it was just a couple of businesses involved but soon more and more. Now the whole town has joined in. And the rest is history....
